What we do

Care fees planning

Independent, SOLLA accredited advice, helping your decisions around long-term care be made with clarity rather than in a rush.

When care can’t wait

Clear thinking at a difficult time

The need for care rarely arrives on a convenient schedule. A hospital discharge date, a new diagnosis, or a parent who can no longer manage alone can bring decisions about someone’s home, savings and family to the table almost overnight – often for people who have never had to think about any of it before.

That’s where we come in. We help families in Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Worcester and the surrounding area take a step back, understand what care is likely to cost, and work out how it can realistically be paid for, so you know where you stand and what comes next.

The gold standard in later life advice

What SOLLA accreditation means for you

Robert Blount, our Director and Financial Planner, holds the Later Life Adviser Accreditation from the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). Widely recognised as the gold standard for those advising in the later life market, it is independently assessed rather than self-certified. To earn it, advisers must demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience in later life and care funding advice, on top of their core financial planning qualifications.

Alongside his SOLLA accreditation, Robert is a Certified Financial Planner® and holds the ER1 equity release qualification, so every option can be explored properly under one roof.

In practice, this means care funding advice that looks at the whole picture. Means-tested local authority support, NHS Continuing Healthcare and self-funding are all weighed up, along with how each one interacts with a person’s income, savings, property and wider estate.

How we can help

We look at what care in your area realistically costs and how long it may be needed for. Using cashflow forecasting, we then show what that means for savings and income over time, so there are fewer surprises later on.

In some cases, NHS Continuing Healthcare funding may cover the cost of care in full. We’ll review whether it could apply and explain how to request an assessment.

Means-testing can feel opaque. We explain clearly how savings, property and income are treated, and what that is likely to mean for the support available.

From self-funding and deferred payment agreements to equity release and insurance-backed care plans, there are several routes to consider. We compare the ones that are genuinely relevant to your circumstances – and set aside the ones that aren’t.

When one partner needs care and the other doesn’t, it’s vital the person remaining at home stays financially secure. We make sure their position is considered at every step.

Where a Lasting Power of Attorney or Court of Protection application is already in progress, we work alongside your solicitor so the financial and legal sides of the plan fit together.

Advice without strings

Why independent advice matters

Care funding decisions are rarely reversible, and the right answer depends entirely on individual circumstances. What suits one family may be entirely wrong for another.

As an independent, whole-of-market firm, we’re not tied to any one provider or product. Our recommendations reflect what genuinely fits your situation, never what we happen to have available to sell. We’re planning-led, not product-led – and when the stakes are this high, that matters more than ever.

There is no pressure

A conversation, before anything else

We offer a free, no-obligation initial conversation to understand your situation and explain, plainly, what your options are likely to be. We can meet at our office, at a place that suits you, or remotely via Teams or Zoom – helpful when family members live further afield and want to be part of the discussion.

There’s no pressure to proceed, and nothing is recommended until we understand the full picture.
