My name is Eric Collington, and my wife and I have been clients of Portcullis Financial Planning for approximately 15 years. Initially, Jonathan Thompson was our financial adviser, and then more recently, Robert Blount took over responsibility when the business was transferred to him.

The company that I was working for had success in drug discovery, and that success led to financial reward, and therefore, I was in a situation where I felt that I needed advice, because the amount involved was not insignificant, so that’s when I first took on an IFA.

My original IFA decided that she wanted a change of career and decided to sell the business to Jonathan Thompson at Portcullis. I transferred and struck up a good relationship with Jonathan, and in due course, he transferred the business to Robert Blount, and I believe I’ve got a good working relationship with Robert too.

The discussions over the years have been valuable from the point of view of being able to give me a better understanding of the fund performance management. Robert has shared detailed information on the funds in the portfolio, which has been something that, again, I’ve found very valuable.

We’re fortunate to be in a financial position to lead the lifestyle that we want, but nevertheless, in having a significant portfolio with Portcullis, I’m still very interested in trying to ensure that we maximise what we have, particularly with regards to see what opportunities there are to pass down some of that wealth to our children and grandchildren.

The best piece of advice has been for us to be very aware of what we want out of our finances going forward. To know what our planning needs and goals are.

I would recommend Portcullis, and I have done so in the past. The reason being that I think Robert is the kind of person who will put the client first, and he’ll always give guidance and expert opinion based upon the client’s needs.
